Race Day 5K

New for 2026, the ABP Southampton 5K starts alongside the day’s other races at Dock Gate 8 in Southampton’s City Cruise Port.

At 9am, runners set off following a spectacular Spitfire display marking 90 years since the first flight of the Supermarine Spitfire and celebrating the city’s rich aviation heritage.

The course heads straight out of the docks along the waterfront, passing Mayflower Park, the Red Funnel ferry terminal, and Queen's Park. With views of the iconic Itchen Bridge — a signature landmark of the longer race routes — the 5K turns left just before the bridge and heads towards St Mary's Stadium, home of Southampton FC. Runners pass through the south car park — a thrilling taste of the stadium atmosphere that features across our longer distances, and perhaps inspiration for your next challenge.

The route then weaves through Southampton’s green city parks, offering flat, scenic running before a strong finish on Above Bar Street — the historic start and finish location of previous ABP Southampton Marathon events. Runners will be navigated to the Guildhall Square where they'll collect their well-deserved 2026 medal and post-race refreshments.

Fast, friendly and packed with local landmarks, the new 5K is the perfect introduction to race day.
